EDMOND PUBLIC SCHOOLS FOUNDATION
SUPPORTS STATE QUESTION 779

Edmond Public Schools IS Edmond. Our schools are where our children learn, where they hope and where they dream. The future leaders of our city and state sit in today's classrooms –  classrooms that have too few teachers, too many students and too little resources. While EPS has seen an increase of 5,000 students over the past decade, state funding has not kept pace.

State Question 779 is the only plan on the table offering immediate hope to help stem the teacher shortage crisis, growing class sizes and lost opportunity due to extreme budget cuts. Projections indicate  EPS could receive $13.6 million annually is SQ 779 passes based on a projected revenue for school districts statewide of $427.4 million.

More than $11.7 million will be a direct increase in pay for our Edmond teachers. While we understand this initiative creates challenges for cities and municipalities, it is undeniable that an initiative petition such as SQ 779 may be the only way for Oklahoma to recruit and retain enough qualified teachers to provide the high-quality education our children deserve.

Our children are Oklahoma's greatest resource and are worthy of the investment. The Edmond Public Schools Foundation proudly endorses SQ 779 as an opportunity to do better for our students and teachers in Edmond and throughout Oklahoma.
